Thanks Canyons for the great event!

PARK CITY, UTAH (For Immediate Release) – With five Americans currently ranked in the Top 15 in the world and vying for slots in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, Canyons Resort will once again be the center of the Snowboardcross and Skicross world when the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding & Freeskiing Grand Prix comes February 25 through March 2.

One of the most popular events at Canyons Resort the last two years, the Sprint Grand Prix brings together the world’s top athletes in Snowboardcross and Skicross.  In both events, athletes compete head-to-head on an inclined, turn- and jump-filled course that races to a finish line at Ski Beach. All skiers and riders will compete for more than $42,000 in prize money, while Americans will compete for the title of U.S. National Champion.

Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Seth Wescott is one of the top-ranked Americans scheduled to compete, along with Nick Baumgartner who has secured two World Cup podium finishes this season.  Alex Deibold, who along with top-ranked American Faye Gulini was recently featured in Salt Lake Magazine, and Jonathan Cheever are also scheduled to compete.

Returning to the U.S. Grand Prix this year is Skicross, where World Cup winner John Teller is the U.S. favorite.  The top American female is Langely McNeal.  Skicross made its Olympic debut in Vancouver (2010) where Switzerland’s Michael Schmid and Canada’s Ashleigh McIvor won the gold medals.

Preliminaries take place on February 27 and 28.  The Skicross Finals begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 1.  The Snowboardcross finals begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2.
